Hello! Nice to Meet You

Welcome! I’m Sara Wells O’Malley, and I’m a marketer, public relations coordinator, communicator and journalist. I currently work as the Event Marketing Coordinator for Cheer and Dance Extreme, The ONE Finals, Cheer for Charity and the Independent Event Producers, where I produce graphics, C12244315_10100430082903709_519156233488890819_o.jpgonstant Contacts, press releases, event videos, run all social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, SnapChat), create advertisements, manage contacts and manage inventory.

I am looking to start a career in Integrated Marketing Communications. I have a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a concentration in sports communications and am halfway done with the IMC program at West Virginia University. I expect to finish my master’s degree in May of 2018.

Most recently, I worked with Maroon PR on behalf of Ripken Baseball and the Cal Ripken World Series. I coordinated 17 interns and 20 social media accounts throughout the three months leading up to and during the Cal Ripken World Series in Aberdeen, Maryland. I also sent press releases, created media lists, coordinated interviews and wrote game recaps.

In 2013 and 2014, I served as the sports information director for the nation-best 17-time NCAA champion WVU rifle team and also assisted with game day operations for WVU football, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s basketball and gymnastics for two years. I also freelanced as a student correspondent for the Big 12 Conference. These duties involved creating game recaps, sending out press releases, scheduling interviews, working with television markets, running social media accounts, creating media guides, writing biographies, updating statistics, writing feature stories for programs and even creating videos for the team.

I interned with KDKA-TV/CBS in Pittsburgh during the summer of 2015, the #22 market in television. I produced stories, wrote web stories, and performed on-camera interviews with professional athletes from the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers and Penguins.

I would love to market, promote and communicate the brand of a company with its audience, while attracting new customers and keeping loyal ones. I strive to work in an environment where I learn, grow and meet expectations daily.

I enjoy traveling, live music (especially country and bluegrass), leisure writing and trying new restaurants!
